Yard 'N Garden Land was started by Roy Sonney in 1965. Having previously worked for a landscape company and owning a trucking company that hauled wood waste to local farmers, he envisioned a store that would provide Clark County with quality plant material.

Roy also talked with local lumber mills to create a new mulch to go on and around new planting beds. Now we have barkdust! The original store was located on the corner of Highway 99 and 99th street in Hazel Dell.

The business grew to include his wife Donna, sister LaVada and children Greg, Vicki and Mark.

By the late 90's expansion was necessary so the new store was erected across 99th street. In September 2000 the new store was opened.

The Sonney family continues to own and operate the business which now includes a 3rd generation of family members working on a day to day basis.
